The mission of the Litchfield Hills Audubon Society is to conserve and restore natural ecosystems, focusing on birds, other wildlife and their habitat, for the benefit of the community, through conservation, education and research.

A 102 acre parcel of land consisting of diverse habitat. Many well marked hiking trails. Bordering brook, two ponds and vernal pools.

LHAS Wildlife Sanctuaries

Litchfield Hills Audubon Society currently owns three wildlife sanctuaries. They are managed and maintained primarily for the benefit of wildlife, conservation and education. All three sanctuaries are open to the public from sunrise to sunset. Please respect and be kind to the creatures that inhabit the sanctuaries.

    * carry out whatever you carry in
    * take only photographs
    * sensitive ecology, NO pets allowed

There are many ways and opportunities to get involved at the Litchfield Hills Audubon Society. We are always in need of dedicated volunteers and workers looking to help, especially at our sanctuaries, where managing and maintaining a wildlife area is both fun and personally rewarding. No experience is necessary. We invite you to join us.

A 12+ acre parcel of land, located in Harwinton, CT. Consists of: nature trail, butterfly garden, Mountain Laurel plantings and an excellent birding environment.

A 35 acre parcel of land, located on Rt. 254 in Litchfield, CT. Consists of wetlands and woodlands, spruce tree plantation, open fields and a site for American Chestnut Research.
